I probably should have mentioned that.

...CALICO always has always been and will always be about the music, not the scene. Making music is cool, playing records is cool, having a whomping big set of speakers for a party is way cool, but this was never about impressing people or being impressed with ourselves. We are going to have a blast somewhere in SW Ohio, sometime in 2010, and not one person will be given a slot for any reason other than his or her ability to make you want to jack your body.
So start saving your juice money, CALICO is having a shin-dig next year.

That said, I have had a lot of fun going out these past few months after more than a decade out of the loop. I feel like it would be nice to give something back...

We are planning an all live event.

The last time I rented the debated venue, in 2001, everything went to shit! I ended up paying $1500 out of my own pocket to hang out with a dozen friends for four hours and get a limited edition print from one of the sound guys. I bought hot dogs, beef and turkey for burgers, chili fixins, stir fry fixins, eggs, bacon, pancake mix, and syrup for 200 people; Ted got to feed on the 50# bag of rice and 9# margarine for the next year or so.
The joke, which I understand totally failed, was implying that this time I wanted others to share my pain; obviously this was lost on most people. The whole original post was a fucking joke about how people post way too early with way, way too much hype. It derived from an asinine debate about when to flyer...

That said, I have had a lot of fun going out these past few months after more than a decade out of the loop. I feel like it would be nice to give something back...

After trying to talk big shit about yourself, and dissing everyone elses events, why should anyone wanna support your shit.

1. Do what now? I never did no big shit, much less talked big shot, but I have referenced my limited experience during a fun period of my life from 1994-98 when the only thing I worried about was making experimental techno, designing flyers, and trying to get the CALICO name a little attention outside our local scene.
2. Reference Hellhouse, 12/12 BASSment, Trustus 2.0, BD party @ Subway; all positive.
3. Didn't disrespect everyone's event at all, only done that a few times, mostly limited to how it takes a lot to get me over Indiana's pot laws and drive out there to see shit. I really, really wish I had been on here when the Hyperactive/ESP thing happened, coulda found a ride. Woulda driven to see Jeff Mills in Chicago and Mark Farina in Indy.
3. I'm guessing I met more than one of my haters at the RTBBQ a few months ago. None of y'all had a problem with me then, why the sudden beef?
4. Support my shit? This scene hipster crap is for the birds, I have never gone or not gone to an event because of my personal thoughts on the promoter or talent, and shame on anyone who has, because that is a pathetic way to go through life.
5. CALICO was my name for my record label, then it was a partnership that was never official, then it lay semi-dormant (there was a cursory CALICO website 2001-2003) until Chuck started to bring it back this year. If CALICO was a New York/LA club, I would be that asshole door guy who turns everyone away and makes them stand in the cold; when they get past me they're in. As always, my lack of decorum draws haters like flies on shit(ty attitude). So it goes.
